						Benchmark Doors limited was acquired by Auto-Plas International Limited in 1996 and incorporated within its five acre site in Hockley, Essex. Benefiting from over fifty years experience in the vacuum forming of plastics, Benchmark set out to develop a high quality composite door to fill the void in the market place between timber and PVC doors. By carefully combining the technologies of both timber and PVC products their twin rebated composite door was born. Utilising the vast experience of the Auto-Plas pattern makers at its disposal, Benchmark produce their own vacuum forming tools in house, enabling them to manufacture the different door designs in their Evolution door range. The Evolution door has literally evolved through years of research and development, to provide today's discerning customer with the ultimate in door technology. Each door looks, sounds and feels like a traditional timber door but that is where the similarity ends, for the Evolution door will not crack, peel or swell and an occasional wipe with a damp cloth is all that is required to keep it looking pristine. All Evolution doors are fitted with the latest high security, multi-bolt locks that carry the Police preferred security specification and British Board of Agreement certification. The evolution door can be manufactured as a stable or double door and due to the unique sash edge detail is suited to the Eurocell 60 and 70mm profile systems. In recognising the problems associated with fitting a conventional square edged door quickly and efficiently, be it timber or composite, the Evolution door takes full advantage of the hardware already available in the PVC door industry. Each Evolution door set is fitted with three fully adjustable flag hinges and the locking system has fully adjustable keeps. Each individual door leaf is manufactured as a timber box construction, thus eliminating the problems caused by doors dropping and requiring costly service calls. All Evolution doors are glazed utilising the Auto-Plas glazing cassette system which can be removed should the sealed unit need replacing. Each door leaf is individually crafted to our patented design ensuring maximum performance and minimal maintenance. The 60mm thick panel provides excellent thermal and acoustic properties, not to mention a far greater level of security than a conventional PVC in-fill panel. The door surface is vacuum formed with an authentic bi-directional grain effect, so from the range of eighteen standard styles in seven vibrant colours, Benchmark have a door to compliment any style of home. Following exhaustive research into the UK glazing cassette market, Auto-Plas has invested over half a million pounds in tooling and dedicated injection moulding machinery, to become the UK's only high volume cassette manufacturer. The glazing cassette system is used extensively throughout the door industry and allows door manufacturers the opportunity to supply doors glazed or un-glazed and provides the opportunity for fabricators to supply their own glass styles and designs.
